Earlier in the week, the Governor and Mr Howard hosted a reception for the Ambassadors and High Commissioners of the European Union – an important opportunity to further strengthen Victoria’s longstanding relationships with EU Member States.
The Governor and Mr Howard hosted a reception to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the RSPCA in Victoria. It provided a chance to thank those involved with the organisation and acknowledge the important role it plays in protecting animals and educating the public.
The Governor and Mr Howard also hosted a reception to mark the 30th anniversary of the Foster Care Association of Victoria, an organisation dedicated to championing foster carers, providing much needed information, training and support. Learn more about the Foster Care Association of Victoria here.
Volunteers contribute significantly to the Victorian community, giving their time in service of others. This week the Governor and Mr Howard acknowledged that contribution at the 2021 Volunteering Awards. Presented at a ceremony at Government House, Award categories included COVID-19 Resilience and Innovation, Volunteering Partnerships, Inclusive Volunteering, and Leadership in Volunteering. The Premier’s Volunteer of the Year Award, named after Dame Elisabeth Murdoch, was also presented during the ceremony. Learn more about the Awards here.
The week concluded with the Governor and Mr Howard hosting His Excellency Mr Amir Maimon, Ambassador of Israel, and Mrs Tal Maimon, at Government House. During their stay, the Ambassador and Mrs Maimon were guests of honour at a dinner hosted by the Governor and Mr Howard. They also visited the Prahran Market and, after accompanying the Governor and Mr Howard to the Collingwood Football Club President’s Lunch, attended the Collingwood vs Adelaide AFL match at the MCG.
