The Governor and Mr Howard this evening hosted a reception in the Ballroom at Government House Victoria to recognise the remarkable contribution that teachers have made to Victoria during 2020.

Over 100 teachers representing Primary and Secondary schools from all sectors and from all over Victoria were invited to enjoy the hospitality of Government House, as a mark of thanks for their hard work and leadership in responding to the challenges of education and remote home-learning during 2020.

Speaking to assembled guests at the function, the Governor paid tribute to the difficult year that teachers in particular faced, in having to adapt to a new way of teaching with very little advance notice.

“Teachers throughout Victoria are to be commended for the considerable efforts put in this year to help our young Victorians. And for rising to the many challenges that COVID-19 has brought to us. It is for all these reasons - and more! -  that we wanted to thank our teachers and to show our gratitude by holding this reception” the Governor said.
