The Governor and Mr Howard paid an Official Visit to Vietnam, Indonesia and Singapore during September and October 2019.
While on an Official Visit to Vietnam, Indonesia and Singapore, the Governor and Mr Howard met with representatives from government and a diverse range of industries, to strengthen Victoria’s working relationships, and to foster the already strong ties many of our Victorian institutions and organisations have built over many decades.
While in Vietnam, the Governor and Mr Howard met with several senior Government representatives, as well as visiting several educational institutions which all have strong links with Victoria. The Governor was present at a ceremony to witness the singing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Hanoi People's Committee and RMIT University, which focuses on greater collaboration in technology and education.
In Hanoi, the Governor was also very pleased to have been able to officially launch the Swinburne University Hanoi campus, and to attend an event hosted by the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Swinburne University which focused on Victoria's capabilities in technology, and discussed the challenges and opportunities for women in that space.
In Indonesia, the Governor's program focused on the creative industries,and the Governor was very pleased to have been able to attend the opening of the ReelOzlnd! 2019 Film Festival, which celebrated several collaborative projects between Victoria and Indonesia.
The Governor's Official Visit to Singapore explored further opportunities for the expansion of Victoria's technological sector, and the possible collaborative projects between Victorian and Singaporean ICT companies.
