Government House will once again host its annual Open Day on Australia Day 2019.

Thousands of people will be welcomed through the gates of Government House Victoria when it hosts its annual Open Day on Australia Day, 2019.

Hosted by the Hon. Linda Dessau AC and Mr Anthony Howard QC, visitors will be invited to tour the historic State Apartments and enjoy a range of activities and displays throughout the 11 hectares of grounds.

As part of Open Day there will be a wide array of activities, designed to entertain Victorians from 1 to 101! Tennis Victoria Hot Shots, Soccer Victoria  and Croquet Victoria will provide ample opportunity to test your sporting prowess, while in the historic Hopetoun Stables, guests will have the opportunity to get up close to former champion racehorses.

The CFA will be onsite with one of their fire engines, and the St John's Ambulance CPR lab will be onsite providing free CPR lessons throughout the day.  The Collingwood Children's Farm are bringing some of their cuddliest residents to visit for the day, and a display by the 2019 Victorian Airshow is sure to impress.

The Ballroom will be transformed into a kids paradise, with Bricks4Kidz providing Lego building spaces, and Scienceworks bringing a selection of interactive scientifici displays sure to get little minds inspired. Along with roaming Stilt Walkers, Monster Bubbles and Face painting, this is a day out that no kids will want to miss!

Guests are invited to bring their own picnic lunch to enjoy on the West Lawn, or choose from one of the many food vans and caterers onsite.  The Country Women's Association will once again be baking and serving their famous scones from the original 19th Century Government House Kitchen, and guests will be entertained by live music and dance performances on the main stage and a variety of roving performers during the day.

Entry is free of charge, and no booking is required. Gates will be open to the public from 9.30am – 3.30pm, with tours of Government House commencing at 10.00am.
