The Governor and Mr Howard this week hosted a Sunset Cinema in the grounds of Government House Victoria as part of the Governor's Performance Series.
As part of the Governor’s Performance Series, the Governor and Mr Howard this week hosted a screening of Paper Planes directed by Robert Connolly. Paper Planes follows the story of a young Australian boy competing in the World Junior Paper Plane Championship in Tokyo.
This is the first time in the recorded history of Government House that an outdoor cinema screening has been held on the grounds, and over 100 people attended the screening while enjoying a picnic and views of the Melbourne skyline.
The Governor’s Performance Series is a regular part of the Vice Regal program, and provides the Governor and Mr Howard with an opportunity to showcase Victoria’s cultural life and talent. The Victorian public have been invited to Government House for a Circus Oz performance in the Ballroom, a Brass concert, ballet for children and a performance by Deborah Cheetham AO and the talented indigenous young people from the Short Black Opera Company, amongst many other performances.
The Governor’s Performance Series is free and open to public registration and is one of the many ways in which the Governor and Mr Howard welcome members of the Victorian community into the House and grounds.
