The 2020 investitures in the Order of Australia concluded this week, with the Governor, accompanied by Mr Howard, having had the opportunity of investing well over three hundred Victorians with their insignia in thirty four separate ceremonies over the last seven weeks. Among the service being recognized was decades of voluntary community service, innovation and leadership in business, international accomplishment in sport and distinguished achievement in professions. It was a pleasure for the Governor and Mr Howard to again be able to welcome the awardees and their guests, and to thank them for their contributions on behalf of all Victorians.

The Governor and Mr Howard also had the opportunity this week to host a virtual Scarecrow Program with students of the Waratah Special School.  The Scarecrow Program invites students from special development schools from all over the state to create a scarecrow to be installed in the Peace & Prosperity Kitchen Garden at Government House, and is usually accompanied by a tour of the State Apartments for the students and their teachers.  Read more about the Scarecrow Program here

In addition to a variety of in-person and virtual calls, this week the Governor and Mr Howard had the opportunity to thank and pay tribute to Victorian nurses, with a jazz concert In the Ballroom at Government House. Invited guests were nurses from a variety of Victorian hospitals, all of whom played a very important role in our fight against COVID-19, representing the many thousands of nurses who worked so generously this year.
