The Governor and Judge Howard attended the AFL Preliminary Final between the Geelong Cats and Sydney Swans in the evening.

Date

The Governor received the call of Ms Georgia Beattie, CEO, Startup Victoria and the call of Mr Tim Smith MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Opposition. Later in the day the Governor received the call of Mr Bayram Aktepe, President, Islamic Council of Victoria. The Governor and Judge Howard attended a performance by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra at Hamer Hall in the evening.

The Governor received the call of Professor Brendan Crabb AC, Director and CEO, Burnet Institute. The Governor also received the call of Mr David Trebeck, Board Member of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust.

The Governor presided at a meeting of the Executive Council.  Later, the Governor received the call of Mr Zhao Jian, Consul-General of the People's Republic of China.

The Governor received the call of Ms Helen Kapalos, Chair, Victorian Multicultural Commission. Later in the day the Governor received the call of Professor Margaret Gardner, AO, President and Vice-Chancellor, Monash University.

The Governor, accompanied by Major General David McLachlan AO (Retd) State President, Returned and Services League of Australia (Victorian Branch) Inc., continued an official visit of the Western Front. They visited the Australian War Memorial at Villers Bretonneux, Le Hamel, Victoria School and College Jacques Brel, the Adelaide Cemetery and Amiens Cathedral.

The Governor, accompanied by Major General David McLachlan AO (Retd) State President, Returned and Services League of Australia (Victorian Branch) Inc., continued an official visit of the Western Front. They met with the former Mayor of Bullecourt and visited significant sites in Bullecourt and Pozieres, including the Petit Croix, the Mouquet Farm site and Windmill site, Slouch Hat and Digger Memorials as well as the 1st Division Memorial and the 2nd Division Memorials.

On Tuesday, the Governor, accompanied by Major General David McLachlan AO (Retd) State President, Returned and Services League of Australia (Victorian Branch) Inc., continued an official visit of the Western Front. They visited Fromelles and surrounding areas including Cobbers Statue, the VC Corner Australian Cemetery, Pheasant Wood Cemetery, Messines, Toronto Avenue Cemetery, The Ireland of Ireland Peace Park and Armentieres. The Governor, on behalf of the people of Victoria, attended a commemorative service and laid a wreath at Menin Gate and also met with the Chairman of the Last Post Association, Mr Benoit Mottrie.

The Governor, accompanied by Major General David McLachlan AO (Retd) State President, Returned and Services League of Australia (Victorian Branch) Inc., commenced an official tour of the Western Front including Ieper, Hill 60 and Tunnellers’ Memorial,Tyne Cot Cemetery, Polygon Wood and 5th Div. Memorial.

The Governor departed the United Kingdom for the Western Front and later met with Major General David McLachlan AO (Retd) State President, Returned and Services League of Australia (Victorian Branch) Inc.
