On 8 May 2026, the Governor departed on an Official Visit to China at the request of the Victorian Government, which will see the Governor travel to Hong Kong, Nanjing, Suzhou, Shanghai, and Chengdu.
The Governor last visited China in October 2024, and this latest visit will strengthen existing connections as well as exploring new opportunities for collaboration in priority sectors.
China remains Victoria's largest export market. There are five Victorian Government Trade and Investment (VGTI) offices in China – more than double any other Australian state.
This visit will also be a chance to engage with Victoria’s oldest sister-state of Jiangsu Province, as well as the State’s newest sister-state relationship with Sichuan Province – which marks its 10th anniversary this year.
International engagement has been a successive key responsibility of Governors of Victoria, and one that requires overseas travel with the support of the Government.
The purpose of these official visits complements international engagement at home by strengthening relationships, opening doors for Victorian businesses, and promoting the State’s economic, social and cultural interests.
Details of the Governor’s program(opens in a new window) will be published as official engagements are completed.
