Statement from the Governor of Victoria

The scenes from Bondi last night are shocking and horrifying for us all. The thoughts of Victorians are with the families of victims and with all those affected directly by the weight of this profound tragedy.

For Australia’s Jewish community, who were targeted, and the brave first responders, who put themselves at risk to render assistance, this act of terror will be etched in memory.

For all Australians, this act is evil, in both its intent and scale of devastation. It is an attack that brings deep pain in our community for what has occurred here.

All Victorians support our fellow citizens through this process of collective grieving and commit more strongly to fostering a community where such acts are unthinkable.
