The Governor, Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, presided at a meeting of the Executive Council.

Saturday, 25 April

The Governor, Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, and Professor Glyn Davis AC, attended the Anzac Day Dawn Service at the Shrine of Remembrance where the Governor delivered the Dawn Service address and laid a wreath on behalf of the people of Victoria.

Then, the Governor and Professor Davis hosted an Anzac Day Breakfast.

Later, the Governor attended the Anzac Day March.

Friday, 24 April

The Governor, Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, received the welcome call of Air Commodore Brett Williams, Senior Air Force Officer Victoria.

Later, the Governor received the call of Commander David Mason, Commanding Officer, HMAS Brisbane, Commander Aaron Scott CSM, Commanding Officer, HMA Stuart, and Captain Ben Esler, Senior Naval Officer Victoria.

In the morning at Government House, members of the public visited for a guided tour of the State Apartments and Kitchen Garden.

The Governor, Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, hosted the seventh session of the Understanding Victoria Discussion Series, “[S]eparation at last!” – The Impetus for and Impact of the Creation of the Colony of Victoria.

Wednesday, 22 April

The Governor, Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, hosted the swearing-in of the Honourable Justice Samuel Distin Hay as a Judge of the Supreme Court.

Later, the Governor received the farewell call of Dr Jenny Gray AM PSM, former Chief Executive Officer, and Dr Mark Pilgrim OBE, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Zoos Victoria.

In the evening, the Governor hosted The Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute Centenary Reception where she delivered an address to mark the occasion.

Tuesday, 21 April

The Governor, Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, attended a ministerial swearing-in before presiding at a meeting of the Executive Council.

Following this, the Governor visited First Step where she met with Catherine Easton, Chair, and Patrick Lawrence, Chief Executive Officer, First Step, before receiving a briefing on operations and a tour of the premises.

Later, the Governor received the welcome call of His Excellency Mr Antonio Albero Morales, Ambassador of the Philippines and Dr Jesus Domingo, Consul-General of the Philippines.

In the evening, the Governor, accompanied by Professor Glyn Davis AC, hosted the Governor’s Performance Series, where she delivered an address to welcome audience members, followed by performances from the Michelle Nicolle Quartet.

In the morning at Government House, members of the public visited for a guided tour of the gardens.

Thursday, 16 April

The Governor, Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, received the welcome call of Anish Rajan, Consul General of India to Victoria and Tasmania.

In the afternoon, the Governor received the call of The Honourable Ted Baillieu AO, Chair, and Simona Jobbagy, Chief Executive Officer, National Institute of Circus Arts.

Wednesday, 15 April

The Governor, Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, presided over a ministerial swearing-in ceremony for the Allan Government.

Following this, the Governor commenced a visit to the Maribyrnong City Council where she met with Cr Mohamed Semra, Mayor, Burndap Ward Councillor, and Celia Haddock, Chief Executive Officer, Maribyrnong City Council, before receiving a briefing from Councillors.

Then, the Governor visited the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre where she was met by Kon Karapanagiotidis OAM, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, and Jana Favero, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, before touring the Centre and meeting with staff, volunteers, and clients.

Later, the Governor visited Western Chances where she met with Terry Bracks AM, Chair, and Jackie Taylor, Chief Executive Officer, Western Chances, before receiving a briefing, and meeting with staff and scholarship recipients.

Following this, the Governor visited Footscray Community Arts where she met with Lung Ong, Chair and Daniel Santangeli, Chief Executive Officer, Footscray Community Arts. The Governor was then escorted on a tour of the studios of Henderson House, Lango Stage and the Roslyn Smorgon Gallery, where she met with creative tenants and Tarnuk ut baany artists.

Then, the Governor visited Victoria University where she was met by Professor Adam Shoemaker, Vice-Chancellor, Victoria University, before touring the Research Building and receiving a briefing on the University’s partnership with Western Health.

In the afternoon, the Governor visited the recently opened Footscray Hospital where she met with Professor Russell Harrison, Chief Executive Officer, before touring the Intensive Care Unit, Medical Imaging Department and Emergency Department of the hospital.

Tuesday, 14 April

The Governor, Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, provided Royal Assent before presiding at a meeting of the Executive Council.

Later, the Governor attended the Premier’s Anniversary of Anzac Day State Luncheon.

In the morning at Government House, members of the Ballarat U3A Garden Interest Group visited for a guided tour of the State Apartments and Kitchen Garden.

The Governor, Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, hosted a performance and morning tea to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Australian National Academy of Music, where the Governor delivered an address to mark the occasion.

In the afternoon, the Governor received the welcome call of His Excellency Mr FM Borhan Uddin, High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Tahmina Akter, First Secretary, High Commission of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

Wednesday, 1 April

The Governor, Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, received the welcome call of Her Excellency Mrs Mirna Khawly, Ambassador of Lebanon to Australia.

Later, the Governor received the call of Simon Warrender OAM, Founder and Executive Director, Melbourne Prize Trust.
