The Governor, accompanied by Mr Howard, opened the NET Cancer Patient Symposium at the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre.
The Governor and Mr Anthony Howard QC hosted the Investiture Ceremony of the Order of Australia Bravery Decorations.

The Governor and Mr Howard attended the 2016 Emirates Melbourne Cup at Flemington Racecourse.
The Governor received the call of Mr Angus Trumble, Director, National Portrait Gallery. The Governor and Mr Anthony Howard QC received His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), Governor-General of Australia, and Her Excellency Lady Cosgrove. Later, the Governor and Mr Howard hosted the VRC Cup Eve Reception.
The Governor and Mr Howard attended the 2016 AAMI Derby Day at Flemington Racecourse.

The Governor hosted the second of two meetings of the Rhodes Scholarship Selection Committee, followed by a reception to announce the 2017 Victorian Rhodes Scholar, hosted by the Governor and Mr Anthony Howard QC. The Governor received the call of Mr David Manne, Executive Director, Refugee and Immigration Legal Centre. The Governor received the call of Dr Attila Gruber, Ambassador of Hungary. The Governor received the call of Mr John de Wijn QC, Chairman and Mr Brendan Watson OAM, Chief Commissioner, Scouts Victoria.
The Governor received the call of Professor Carolyn Evans, Honorary Secretary, and Professor Marnie Hughes-Warrington, National Secretary of the Rhodes Scholarships in Australia, before chairing a meeting of the Rhodes Scholarship Selection Committee. Later, The Governor, accompanied by Mr Anthony Howard QC, attended the Annual Burnet Oration, where the Governor introduced the 2016 Orator, the Honourable Dame Quentin Bryce AD CVO.
